Common name: Nilgiri kleinia.
Genus Kleinia belongs to Asteraceae family and has about 50 species, they are mostly found in Africa and parts of Asia. They have succulent stem and leafs , the plant is brittle and features a conical papilose appendages. The are sturdy plants and withstand drought like conditions. Nilgiri Kleinia is fleshy succulent plant that grows on rocky cliff sides and is often found in high altitude areas of Nilgiris. The plant grows to a height of about 1.5 meters, the entire plant is glaucus and rather smooth. The leafs are long pointed at both ends; elliptic and near sessile. The inflorescence is in the form of a corymbose panicule. The flowers are bisexual. with white petals.
