Zornia diphylla (Fabaceae- Pea family)

Common Name: Two leaf Zornia. Tamil Name: Arundhalai otti.

Z. diphylla is a slender spreading herb often found in fallow lands and grasslands. The leaves are arranged 2 foliate. The leaf shape is linear to lance shaped and have a pointed tip. Leaf margin is ciliated.  Flowers are in the form of racemes in leaf axis. Zornia genus is characterized by the presence of one pair of leaflets and foliaceous bracts. An important plant for butterfly gardens. This plant is the larval host plant for Black-spotted grass jewel, Orange-spotted grass jewel, Dark grass blue, Grass blue and Painted lady.
