Blepharis Integrifolia (Acanthaceae- Acanthus family)

Common Name: Narrow Leaf Blepharis. Tamil Name: Elumbotti.

B. Integrifolia is a much branched herb often forming small mats on floor. The plant is covered with soft white hairs the stem is terete in shape. The leaves are simple and arrangement is verticillate with 4 leaves at each node. The sessile leaves are obovate, margin entire and apex rounded. The flowers appear solitary on leaf axis and are blue in color.  The fruit is in the form of an ovoid capsule. This plant is commonly seen in dry mountain slopes (lower elevation) of western ghats area.
