A few of them have escaped into the wild. The plant has a squarish stem. The single pinnate leaves are shinning green in color and arranged in an alternate manner. The leaflet base is cuneate and the leaflet tip is acute and spine tipped. The inflorescence is in the form of a leaf opposite cyme. The tubular flower is fragrant and yellow in color. The flower tube measurers 1.2 cm and the flower across measure 6 mm. The flower encloses 2 anthers. The fruit is in the form of a round berry. They are initially green in color later turn black on maturity. The fruit contains a single stony seed.
