Common name; Spreading diamond flower Tamil name: Parpatakam

Spreading diamond flower is a small herb which grows to around 8-10 cm in height and often found on fallow lands and roadsides. The plant has round shaped stem and is very slender. The simple leaves are arranged in an opposite manner. They are sessile and measure around 3.5 cm in length. The leafs are linear and narrow. The inflorescence is axillary, flowers are seen mostly singular or sometimes double. The flower has four petals and measure around 2 mm across and are star shaped. The fruit is in the form of a capsule. The plant is considered as highly medicinal.
