Common name: Charor Tamil name: Kalvirasu
Charor is a small tree deciduous that grows to around 5 meters in height. The branches have a tendecy to droop down. The bark is pale in color, the simple leaves are arranged in an alternate manner. The leafs are oblong-elliptic in shape and measure around 4.5 cm in length; the leaf margin is entire; slightly unequal and tip rounded; leaf surface is slightly rough. The inflorescence is in the form of a terminal or axillary corymb. The flower stalk measure around 1 mm and the tubular flower measure about 3 mm across. The stamens numbering 5 stick well out of the tubular flower. The flowers are white in color and attractive. The fruit is in the form of a drupe which turn orange when ripe.
