Angle’s trumpet is a shrub native to Tropical America naturalized in many parts of the world for its large ornamental flowers. The plant grows to around 3 meters in height, the young branches are green in color and lenticulate. The simple leaves are arranged in an alternate manner; the leaf margin is very gently dentate. The leaves are soft to feel and are elliptic in shape with an unequal base and an acute apex. The leaves measure around 18 cm in length; at the base of the large leaf some very small leafs are bunched up, they measure around 2 cm each. The leaf stalk is green in color and measure around 4 cm. The leaves are pale green in color and on the underside of the leaf the nerves are exposed. The inflorescence is axillary and solitary. The flower are large trumpet shaped and come in various colors ranging from white, pink to yellow. The flower stalk and flower measure around 2 cm and 28 cm respectively. The flowers always droop downwards. The calyx is green in color, smooth and tubular. At the apex of the calyx there are four partitions each ending in an acute tip. The end of the flower petals are rounded up into a sharp point. The flower encloses 4 long stamens and a single style. The fruit was not located. Brugmansia species is commonly found in hill area towns of Taminadnu mostly planted as an ornamental. This plant can be frequently encountered in Nilgiris, Valparai and Kodaikanal. All parts of the plant are considered poisonous.
