Datura prickly burr grows to a height of about a meter and is found commonly on road-sides and fallow lands in Tamilnadu. All parts of this plant are poisonous. The leaf stalk and leaf measure around 4.5 cm and 12 cm respectively. The leaf shape is ovate, unequally rounded at base and apex acute. The leaf is shallowly lobed and slightly tomentose. The flowers are axillary, generally single and are white in color and funnel shaped. The five petal segments are fused and the ends of the petal taper to a sharp point. The calyx is green in color and measure nearly 10.5 cm. The flower length is around 15 cm. The flower encloses 5 stamens, the stamen filaments are nearly 12.2 cm long. The flower has a single style and measure around 13 cm in length. The fruit is in the form of a downward facing prickly capsule (5 cm diameter) which is ovate in shape. The seeds are black in color and measure around 3 mm.
