This trifoliate plant has its origin in Caribbean islands origin is naturalized in India. The plant is an erect annual growing to around one foot in height. Leaves are arranged alternatively, leaf shape is lanceolate and margins entire. The plant produces single flower of less than one centimeter length and is pea shaped and yellow in color. The fruit is in the form of a two-parted legume with two kidney shaped seeds. This plant was encountered in Palakkad district of Kerala. The plant is used in Silvi-pastoral systems as a cover crop. This plant can be planted in butterfly gardens as a source of nectar.
