Common name: Monarch Amazonvine
Moharch Amazonvine native to the Caribbean and Central America is a vigorous climber. A relatively new exotic introduced to India as an ornamental plant. The plant grows to around 6 feet in height and spreads over 3-4 meters across. The simple leafs are arranged in an opposite manner, the leaf margin is entire and have a silky feel. At the base of each leaf two very small stipules are seen. The base of each leaf a pair of leaf glands are visible. The leafs are dark green above and light green below. The leaf stalk measure around 1.4 cm in length, the leaf measure around 8.5 cm in length and across measure around 5 cm. The leaf shape is ovate, base is truncate and the leaf has a notched tip. The inflorescence is an axillary cyme consisting of umbels, the flowers consists of 4 large yellow petals; with one petal smaller than the rest. The flowers are bisexual with 4 separate petals.The flower across measure around 4 cm, the petals are clawed and each of them measure around 2 cm each. The flower consists of 6 sterile stamens and four stamens.
