Loose flowered desmodium is a perennial native to Tropical Asia and grows to a height of about 2 feet in height. The trifoliata leaves are arranged in an alternate manner; the leaflet margin is entire The terminal leaflet is the largest and measures around 9 cm; the side leaflets are smaller. The leaflets are ovate-ellitpic in shape sometimes seen orbicular and has a notched tip. Occasionally some leafs are seen single in this plant. The inflorescence is in the form of an axially or terminal raceme which can measure be more than 20 cm in length. The flowers are blue in color and pea shaped and each measure around 6-7 mm. The fruit is in the form of a pod.
