Common Name: Egyptian woodrose
Egyptian woodrose is a slender climber; the plant is covered with small white hairs. It twines around surrounding vegetation and grows to a height of about 2.5 meters. The plant has a sticky gum like secretion. The simple leaves are arranged in an alternate manner. The leaf is digitately five foliate. The central leaflet is the longest measuring nearly 4.2 cm. The leaf stalk measure around 1.1 cm. The inflorescence is in the form of an axillary cyme. The flower has a hairy green calyx with five sepal segments. The flowers are white in color and funnel shaped with five petals. The petiole and flower measure around 1.4 cm and 2.5 cm respectively. The flower has six stamens which are filamentous and white in color; they come in two size-sets. The fruit is a four celled capsule and contain four seeds which are brown in color. This plant was encountered near Walayar (Tamilnad side) situated near Kerala-Tamilnadu boarder.
