This plant is commonly seen in Tamil Nadu with a marked presence in fallow lands, road sides and forest edges. The entire plant is densely stellate-tomentose and grows to a height of about two meters in height. Leaves are elliptical to oval in shape. The leaf base is rounded and apex rounded. Leaf venation is prominent on the underside. Leaf margin is doubly dentate. Flowers are seen in light yellow color with five petals. The calyx is tubular and five toothed the fruit is not spinescent. The fruit is in the form of a capsule with a single seed. This plant is the larval host plant for Asian grizzled skipper and Transparent six-lineblue butterflies. The plant is frequented by Weaver birds-seeds are consumed.
