Bread flower is a woody large climber. They can grow to nearly 6 meters in height. When wounded the plant discharge white latex. The leaf stalk is around 1.5 cm in length. The simple leaves are arranged in opposite manner. The leaf is elliptic in shape; apex acuminate and base cuneate. The flowers are seen in bunches; each cyme with 3-6 flowers each. Flowers are white in color and cup shaped. The flowers are around 2.2 to 2.5 cm long and have nice fragrance. The plant is the larval host plant for Blue tiger and Dark blue tiger butterflies. The plant should be a preferred choice for large home gardens. This ornamental can be seen planted in public places in Coimbatore district. The plant is propagated through cuttings.
