Common Name: Lady Margaret passion flower
This ornamental plant is an evergreen vine and is a hybrid between P. Coccina and P. Incarnata. The simple leaves are trilobed; leaf surface soft velvety and hairy on both sides; leaf margin toothed. The plant spreads itself over walls and other nearby vegetation and can grow to around 6 m across. The leaf base is cordate and the lobes of the leaf end in an acute point. The leaf stalk is around 1.7 cm long. The leaf length (central lobe) stands at around 8 cm the smaller lobes measure around 5.5 cm each. The flower stalk is long and stand at around 8 cm in length. The calyx and petals are raspberry red in color and the flowers are slightly fragrant. The flower measurers around 6 cm across; each petal measure around 2 cm. P. ‘lady margaret’ is sold as an ornamental plant in Tamil Nadu. The fruit was not located.
