This plant was found in Coimbatore district in an urban area. It grows to a height of about 1.5 feet. The stem of the plant is four sided and has small white hairs. The leaf stalk is covered by the leaf lamella. The leaves are simple and arranged in an opposite manner. The leaf length measures around 4.6 cm. The leaf margin is wavy and slightly crenate. The inflorescence is in the form of a terminal spike. The bracts are leaf like in appearance and ovate in shape with a mucronate tip. The calyx is joined below and has 5 lanceolate sepals (each 5 mm in length). The flower tube measures around 2.8 cm; the petals are light yellow in color. The flowers are bi-lipped; the lower portion has a three lobed petal; upper petal is single. The flower has two stamens and a single style. This plant is probably Ecbolium viride var. chanrasekariana.
