Drosera Indica is an insectivorous plant and a native of tropical regions and is found in India, Africa and Australia. It is an annual which grow to a height of about 50 cm. it prefers acidic soil environment.  Leaves are narrowly linear fringed with gland tip tentacles-which produce a sticky fluid in which insects get trapped. Flowers are pink in color. They typically grow in wet nutrient deficient soil areas and are often found in shallow wet rocky areas. This plant was photographed from Valparai hills in Coimbatore. I encountered the same plant in Kaas plateau (valley of flowers in Maharashtra); I found the same plant to be of very small size. The plant I saw in Kaas-being about the size of the flower of the same plant seen in Valparai. These plants are photosynthetic and only supplement their diet with animal matter.
