Z maysorensis is a monoecious (male and female flower separate) vine native to the Indo-China region and can spread itself to over 2-3 meters. The plant is often encountered in high altitude areas in Nilgiri District of Tamilnadu. Commonly seen in hill towns near road-sides, fallow lands and tea estates. The stem of the plant is rectangular, striated and with a rough feel. The simple leaves are arranged in an alternate manner. The leaves are generally shallowly trilobed. The leaves are ovate in shape with a cordate base and an acute tip. The leaf stalk and leaf measure around 4.6 cm and 5 cm respectively. The leaf surface have a sandpaper like feel. The male inflorescence resembles an umbel, but on close look resembles a raceme. The flower stalk measure around 4 mm and the flower across measure around 1 cm. The calyx is green and five toothed. The male flower has three stamens. The female flower is solitary and axillary. The fruit is globular in shape and measure around 6-7 mm across. The fruit encloses 4 flat seeds which are oval in shape and measure around 5 mm in length.
