Lavandula bipinnate (Lamiaceae- Mint family)

Common Name: Feather leafed lavender.

Feather leafed lavender is a fragrant her with a squarish stem, it grows to a height of about 1.5 meters. The simple leaves are arranged in an opposite manner and are sessile. The stem and most parts of the plant are covered with white soft hairs. The leaf are deeply lobed and pinnatisect this gives the leaf a feathery appearence.The flowers are borne in clusters and are sky blue in color; sometimes seen in white color. The flowers are bi-lipped and measure around 1 cm. The fruit is in the form of nutlet and contains black colored seeds. Feather leafed lavender is an attractive ornamental plant. This plant was found in Satara hills in Maharashtra state.
