Tecoma Fulva (Bignoniaceae- Jacaranda family)

Common Name: Cahuato.

Cahuato is a shrub of South American origin; often sold in India as an ornamental plant. Several ornamental hybrids have been developed. The leaves are pinnate-generally 3 pairs are seen and the axis ends in a leaf (imparipinnate). The leaves are arranged in an alternative manner and the leaflets are arranged in opposite manner. The leaf margin is distinctly serrate. The inflorescence is the in form of an axillary cyme. The flowers stalk and flower length measure around 1 cm and 5 cm respectively. The flower is funnel shaped and downward facing. The petals are orange in color and the throat of the flower has some yellow lines. The five calyx elements are fused below and five sepal teeth are seen. The stamens are four in number and come in two sets of unequal sizes.
