Common Name: Hardy Amaryllis, St. Joseph’s lily.
Hardy amaryllis is one of earliest hybrid ornamental plant developed in Amaryllidaceae. The leaves of the plant are basal and strap like in shape and measure around 45 cm in length. The plant is semi-bulbous and propagated via bulbs. The inflorescence stalk is basal and bears around 4-6 large fragrant flowers. The flower stalk measure around 6 cm in length. The flowers have 6 red tepals; some white streaks seen near the throat of the flower. The trumpet shaped flowers measure around 9-10 cm in length. The flower has 6 stamens and one stigma. Hardy amaryllis is sold in plant nurseries in India. It is a hardy plant with attractive flower and can be propagated using underground bulbs.
