Cynanchum viminale subsp. Brunonianum (Apocynaceae- Oleander family)

This plant is a twinning climber; plant appears leaf-less with cylindrical succulent green stem. The plant is often seen in forest fringes around dry deciduous forest ranges in Tamilnadu. Fragrant white flowers are seen bunched laterally on branches in sessile umbels; each umbel has about 20 flowers. The flowering nodes appear alternatively on the branch separated from each other by about 10 cm. The flowers are greenish in color with five petals. The petals are curved back at both edges the pedicle is about 8 millimeters in length. Flowers are 7 mm wide and each petal is around 6 mm in length. The fruit is in the form of a follicle. This plant was encountered in Anaikatti forest range in Coimbatore district.
