Common name: Ivy Woodrose. Tamil Name: Elikkatutalai.
Mostly a prostrate plant but often found climbing over farmland fences and other vegetation. Ivy Woodrose has ovate leafs- sometimes found three lobed. The lower portion of the leaf is often found to be mildly toothed. The leaf has cordate base. The fruit is in the form of a capsule. M. Emarginata resembles this plant: however they have kidney shaped leaves. Another closely resembling species is M. gemella. The main difference between the two is that in the case of M. Hederacea, the petioles and pedicles are often found to be tuberculate (surface with wart-like projections).
