This orchid is an epiphyte (growing on other surface of other plants but does not feed from it). This beautiful orchid was encountered in Valparai in Tamilnadu at an altitude of 1000 msl. The flowers are white in color with a yellow center and are fragrant. They have pseudo-bulbs-the stem being thickened to form a pseudo-bulb which acts as a storage organ. The pseudo-bulbs in this plant are typically wrinkled and have two leaves each (see second picture). Coelogyne is a genus under family Orchidaceae they are epiphytes and with sympodical structures and tend to have showy flowers.
